Setup & help

Get call recording working

Install both apps, pick one connection method, and activate the Helper. This page covers every option and the snags people actually hit.

Step zero

Before you start

Install both apps

Recline Dialer and Recline Helper — both signed by the same developer so they trust each other.

Set Recline as default dialer

Recording controls and call handling need Recline to be your phone app.

Enable Developer options

Needed for Wireless debugging or ADB. Tap Build number seven times to unlock it.

Pick one connection method

Shizuku, Wireless debugging, ADB over USB, or root — you only need one.

Connect the Helper

Four ways to activate recording

You only do this once. After the Helper is running, Recline finds it and reconnects on its own every time you open the app.

Shizuku

Shizuku hosts a long-lived privileged service and keeps it alive across app restarts. Set it up once and Recline reconnects automatically from then on — no computer, no ADB command each boot.

  1. Install Shizuku from the Play Store.
  2. Start Shizuku — via Wireless debugging (Android 11+) or a one-time ADB command on a PC.
  3. Open Recline Helper → Set up connection → Shizuku, and grant the permission prompt.
  4. Tap “Connect with Shizuku”. The status turns to “Helper is running”.
  5. Open Recline and record — it stays connected even after you swipe the app away.
